Robert Stafford is witnessing the changes at Miami under coach Mario Cristobal and now he wants to be a part of it.
The four-star from Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie committed to the Hurricanes over Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky and Oregon on Thursday and Stafford said he’s ready to help Miami get back to elite status.
Stafford believes the vision is there for it to happen.
“If you got a chance to stay in Florida, why leave?” Stafford said. “The dynasty at Miami, all the legends that have come out of there, you have Ed Reed on the staff helping with the DBs. Why not learn from the best?
“The whole program has changed, trust me. You see all the recruits we’re getting. I’m telling you, Miami is going to be back to what it used to be. I promise you that. We’re going to be back to winning that national championship.”
The month of June has been very rewarding for the Hurricanes on the recruiting trail as they’ve landed commitments from four-star tight ends Jackson Carver and Reid Mikeska, high four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada along with three-star QB Emory Williams and they essentially flipped four-star receiver Nathaniel Joseph from Clemson.
It’s been a great month and Stafford wants to be a part of it.
The Melbourne Eau Gallie standout sees big things ahead in Coral Gables.
“Miami isn’t home for me but it feels like home,” Stafford said. “I stay in the state of Florida, I’m only two hours away. We’re trying to bring that dynasty back to what it used to be. I’m ready to be a part of it. They picked me to come in and be the man so I’m going to have to live up to it and I believe I can live up to it.”
